Ivanhoe Estate at Macquarie Park
As part of the NSW Government’s response to COVID 19 to help stimulate the economy, the Ivanhoe Estate redevelopment project has been approved to help accelerate development and boost employment in NSW.
Stage 1 of the project will be delivered by Frasers Property Australia, consisting of 259 new community housing dwellings and 481 market dwellings.
Frasers is part of the Aspire consortium which was awarded the contract - comprising Frasers Property Australia, Citta Property Group and community housing partner, Mission Australia Housing.
Once complete, the Macquarie Park project will include:
- 3,300 new homes, including 950 for social housing, 128 affordable housing, and 273 seniors living homes;
- 2.8 hectares of open space including new parks, a skate park and a playground;
- A new primary school for 400 children and two childcare centres;
- A town plaza, new shops, cafes and restaurants; and
- A new road connecting Herring Road with Lyon Park Road, including a new bridge over Shrimptons Creek.
The project will also meet the needs of tenants aging in place – a significant demographic on the Housing Register – through the provision of:
- 120 bed residential aged care facility
- 141 purpose-built social housing and 132 private independent living units
- a wellbeing centre.

More opportunities for tenants
A key focus of the project is to address housing needs while providing practical opportunities to transition social housing residents to housing independence. Mission Australia Housing will provide support to assist social housing residents to connect with education, training and employment opportunities.
New education and community facilities
The redevelopment will help to meet the growing demand for high quality education by providing a non-government co-educational vertical high school and two 75 place child care centres. A range of community facilities, public space and a retail centre are also planned.
The Ivanhoe Estate will become an integrated community that defines a new approach to the delivery of social housing.
World class urban design and community based place-making will be central to creating a highly desirable place to live.
Social housing will be designed to meet the needs of current and future residents.
Quality facilities and public open spaces will support a cohesive and sustainable community.
Experienced DCJ staff assisted tenants to move to ensure each relocation was managed in a sensitive manner. These tenants have the option to return to the new social housing dwellings in Ivanhoe.
